Voice codec updates

Forgive me for not fully understanding the connection between Steam and the Source engine, but will these voice codec quality changes be reflected ingame? I would love a higher quality HLDJ
Also, if anyone knows, what are the new frequency cutoffs for the new codec? Let the reconversion of everything in my 2000 song HLDJ library begin.

Interesting! I wasn't aware of this, after searching around I can only assume it's an update to the Steam client voice comm system (which is indeed separate from Source Engine voice comm system), or if it is the engine voice comm, it hasn't changed the rate at which voice_input.wav is sampled (otherwise we'd be seeing a lot of 'song plays too fast' threads). If you can enable this in the beta and try it out and let me know, it would be of great help. I'll also test this first chance I get.

update: yes, looks to be an update to the Steam voicecomm system only; HLDJ works same as usual for in-game.

Aww, that's really too bad. Wonder when they'll implement this to Source. Songs already sound loads better in 16k, rather than 11k.
